HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SADIE!!!!

So our infant is technically a toddler now, I guess. I'm not sure what the cut-off is, nor do I know the technical meaning of "toddling", but she kind of cruises around, bumps herself on the head almost hourly, and has quite the mind of her own, so I suppose that qualifies.

Sadie turned one last Friday! She now weighs 22 lbs, 11 oz (75th percentile), and is 30 1/4 inches long (90th percentile). I'm not exactly sure why I am presenting her stats with the appropriate percentiles other than to express the idea that we very well may have an Amazon baby on our hands. Hmmmm.

Last weekend, Redmond's brother Robert, sister-in-law Marsha, and their twins Lucas and Lily stayed with us over the weekend. Sadie was thrilled to have other babies in the house to crawl over and knock down. Dad and Debi came for the weekend as well, and Debi was a great help to us with our birthday party on Saturday. We had about 40 or so guests, and about half of them were toddling, crawling or just sitting up. Luckily, the weather was perfect for the event and we could enjoy the yard.

Unfortunately, many of my pictures didn't turn out. If any of our Blogger buddies have their own pictures of the event, can you please send them to me at ksgrigg@gmail.com ? There were many children who aren't representin', including our youngest attendee, three week old Lila.

Sadie busies herself with blocks, unaware that her home will soon be filled with the pitter patter of twin baby feet....

And here are Lily and Lucas, lounging lazily. Ah, sweet alliteration!

Our niece and nephew are so sweet!!! As an only child, it thrills me to be able to say the words "niece" and "nephew".
Sadie, Lily and Lucas play in a heap on the floor...

Sadie, looking contemplative... or plotting...

This looks like a three person mariachi salivating band...

And on to the party...

Redmond totes Sadie around... Her party dress was ginormous... I guess I'll need to throw another party in about two months...

Robena, Twyla, Philip and Dana, respectively. Miss Twyla has grown quite a bit since we last saw her...

Julie and her daughter Olivia.

Redmond's cousin Melissa, who lives in Durham, showed up at the party and was able to see the twins for the first time. Here she is on the left holding Lily while Marsha holds Lucas.

Melissa, Marsha, the twins and Robert.

Lucas has a million dollar smile and giggles profusely.

Patty and her daughter Isabel.

Josh and Molly are on the left and James and Pippa are on the right. Pippa is wearing the cutest pumpkin-head hat. You've seen Molly on the blog before, but sans clothing.

Griffin makes an adorable monster.

Anne holds Sadie whilst I run around looking for ice and forks and napkins and Maalox.

Debi made these awesome cakes and these cute little decorations out of candy and marshmallows. I wish I had her talent. Here's cake number one...

And cake number two...

Mom and Debi flank a crowd of very intense looking children- Alex, Sadie, Lucie and Elizabeth . They are either thinking about our war situation in Iraq or they are wondering when in the heck someone will come and cut the cake. See if you can guess which dilemma is occupying their minds...

Speaking of cake, the next few images may horrify you. Grandma had to physically leave the porch during this cakesmear-a-palooza. Actually, we didn't even record the worst of it. By the time she was done, her face was more cake than baby.

Elizabeth enjoys some cake, sans smearing.

Sadie opens presents. She also hasn't learned how to sit in a "ladylike" fashion while wearing a dress, but we'll give her some slack. It's her birthday.

I lurve the birthday girl photos! Especially the cake palooza...hee! We had to take a vacuum cleaner to Courtney when she got done sampling her first birthday cake. Gotta love those memories! Kylie wasn't at all interested in her birthday cake either year. *shrug* She has no idea what she was missing!

Happy Birthday Ms. Sadie Harper and many, many more! MUAH!
