Happy New Year!!

Are we already well over halfway through with the decade we can't really name? Is this the "oughts" or the "zeros"? Will next decade be the "tens"? I obsess about these silly things..

So, we spent our Christmas at home and then visited Chesapeake, Va to see family, and then on to DC. Here are a few photos...

The first few pictures were taken on Christmas day at our home. The lighting on the camera is a bit off.

Sadie clutches a random bag of food goodies in her hand.

The lighting for this picture looks horrific on my monitor, but I'm hoping you can actually make out facial features on your computer.

Sadie is more excited by the packaging her giant box of blocks came in than the actual blocks. In fact, I can guarantee that most toddlers will make over the boxes in which their toys came and may virtually ignore the actual gift.

Oh boy! A bow for me to eat!

Sadie hauls around one of her new pull cars.

She still sleeps pretty.

We are walking around Dad's neighborhood in Chesapeake. Sadie is enjoying her new car.

Whee! A swingset!

Higher! Higher!

Grandpa pushes Sadie in the swing for a bit...

Sadly, we didn't have a chance to take pictures at Robert and Marsha's house. I'll be getting some pictures from them and posting them soon. Sadie had a wonderful time playing with her adorable cousins Lucas and Lily. Also, she enjoyed her visit with my best friend Karen K and her boyfriend Jeff.

Moving on to DC... Our first venture outside the hotel was to the Zoo. I didn't manage to capture many good animal pictures, but I do have some pictures of Sadie in her stroller, as if you haven't seen that enough times already.

We're still enjoying the zebra pants.... And we actually saw the zebra that matched...

Looking sassy....

A random cheetah.

We were not able to pass Potomac Mills without making an Ikea run. One of the hits was this little play tent, which kept Sadie occupied and interested when we hung out in our hotel room in DC. Here she is, chilling in the tent.

I'm not exactly sure why she's sporting a miner's headlamp in this picture. Methinks Daddy was being silly...

We checked out the Museum of Natural History on Friday. On Saturday, we attempted to hit the Museum of American History and the Arts and Industry Building, but both were closed for renovation. Curses! We spent a brief amount of time in Air and Space, but soon headed over to the new Museum of the American Indian to meet up with Robena, Philip and Twyla. I am cursing myself for not getting a picture of this museum. Their cafe has wonderful Native American cuisine from all the regions of the Americas. After lunch, we let the kids work out their yayas outside the museum, then Redmond, Sadie and I strolled back into the museum to check out the exhibits. It was a very powerful experience...

Sadie and Twyla play.. Sadie actually tried to kiss Twyla....

Philip holding sweet Twyla. She is about a month older than Sadie.

More play pictures...
