Vacation, part 1

Last week, Redmond and I took a much needed vacation. Actually, we spent most of the week doing some chores that had built up around the house since Sadie was born, such as cleaning out the closet, but we did manage to spend last Monday at the Zoo in Asheboro and we took a trip to Tidewater over this last weekend. Here are some pics from the first part of the week. I'll upload our pictures from Tidewater later this week, after I have a chance to resize them.

Here's our zoo group. From the left is Finley with his son Griffin. Dana, Griffin's mom, is taking pictures across the way and is not pictured. Next, we have Robena and little Twyla. Obviously, next to the right would be Sadie and Redmond. Mommy likes to hide behind the camera... ;-) Finally, we have Missy, Brian, and wee Lila.

Sadie had a tendency to run off into the madding crowd, and she eschews her stroller, so we spent much of the day hefting the child around. She ain't heavy.. she's my daughter... Okay... she's heavy.
The polar bear put on quite a show for the crowd...
Little Lila-bean is a cutie-pie.
Yes, dahling....

Griffin was featured in our blog eons ago, sitting with Sadie in their Bumbo chairs... He's grown tremendously, eh? What a sweetie...

Darling Twyla puts on her best brooding poet face...

A toddler can truly sleep anywhere.

A big brown bear basks in the bright sunlight... And I just lost my license for alliteration...

Missy and Lila.
Two giraffes prepare to neck-tangle.

Cute lion cubs....

This patriarch lion looks a wee bit Skar-esque.

More carrying of the bug....

Sadie stalks a gorilla statue....

One day last week, we went out for something or another... I don't even remember where we were going, but Sadie felt like playing for the paparazzi, so we took a few random pictures in our yard...

Little lady in proper dress standing in front of old rusty pickup truck. I'm not a great photographer, but I find juxtapositions amusing...

Ack! Get this hat OFF me....

The baby saw her shadow, so we get six more weeks of temper tantrums...

How quickly we evade our captors...

The dog's toys provide a moment's distraction...

Sadie stops for an all-too-brief breather...

More to come....
